Jeff joined BEAM Wealth Advisors in 2022 as the Chief Investment Officer. Prior to joining the firm, Jeff built a diverse array of experience within the financial markets industry as a bank examiner, institutional equity research analyst, and finally, Chief Investment Officer for a large Ameriprise Private Wealth practice. Jeff considers diversification essential; holding a collection of assets that behave differently is the hallmark of an efficient portfolio.
Jeff’s passion for investment management began at a young age, and he wasted no time honing his expertise. While Jeff attended Arkansas State University, he would often start his day early, listening and reading financial media to learn from practitioners alongside his academic studies. He graduated summa cum laude with a double major in finance and economics, accumulating several accolades along the way, including a national championship in macroeconomics. Jeff is a CFA charterholder and CAIA charterholder.
Jeff constructs portfolios with a focus on risk management. Understanding an asset’s behavior through a cycle, and at different points of the cycle, is critical for understanding its contribution to risk and return. Combining assets that behave differently, while leaning toward assets that may be favored in the current environment, can mitigate downside volatility while accessing multiple sources of return. Jeff’s background in economics helps him identify macroeconomic trends and assess their impact on markets,, helping guide the asset allocation decision, while his background as an analyst helps dive into the finer details of security selection. While at Ameriprise, Jeff’s investment process was recognized internally for its focus on risk-adjusted outcomes.
Jeff lives near downtown Columbus, OH, with his wife, Sam, and their two dogs, Draco and Rosie. On the weekends, Jeff and Sam enjoy being outside exploring local trails, rivers, forests, and restaurant districts. They especially love a nice domestic weekend getaway surrounded by nature. Jeff enjoys watching professional sports, especially the New England Patriots and the Columbus Blue Jackets. Jeff plays tennis regularly and in the winter, enjoys hitting the slopes on his snowboard.
