Coming from us, that may seem to come from left field. After all, we’re a “brick and mortar” Wealth Management Firm in Atlanta, GA. We have clients all over the country. And we’ve built our reputation by providing the kind of invaluable advice that builds and preserves wealth.

More to the point, we firmly believe that getting good financial advice changes people’s lives. It makes financial independence achievable for the average person. It allows them to keep their dignity in old age. Our firm believes that almost every investor, at some point in his or her life, will need the services of a good investment advisor.

But the fact is, not everyone has access to one. And the best financial advisors won’t work with you unless you have a sizable sum to invest.

Remote Portfolio Management

So how do you build enough wealth to meet a top advisor’s minimum if you can’t get the investment advice you need to build that wealth?

That’s where BGA’s Remote Portfolio Management service comes in. We help you bridge the gap with a minimum that’s fairly easy to meet: $50,000. And that can be the total of all your RPM accounts.

With our RPM, there are no trading commissions, hidden or withdrawal fees. And you can close your account anytime with no penalty.

How RPM works

Put simply, we’ll create your portfolio from the in-depth information you provide online. In order to keep costs as low as possible, we’ll use Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) as your portfolio’s underlying investments. Then we leverage technology to invest and manage your portfolio, constantly optimizing your investments through rebalancing, reinvesting and tax-loss harvesting. All without you ever having to lift a finger or a phone.

That technology we leverage? It’s the same technology that powers Schwab Intelligent Portfolios. Which is one reason why we’ve chosen to work with Charles Schwab & Co, Inc. as custodian of your account. Once your portfolio is created, it will be held in a CS&Co brokerage account and can be easily accessed at any time through the Charles Schwab & Co. website and mobile apps.

Spoiler alert

There are other automated investment programs out there. What makes ours different and better is that it’s from a well respected respected investment firm - Benedetti, Gucer & Associates.

Some of this respect comes from the fact that as a Registered Investment Advisor, BGA is a fiduciary. This means that the people who create and manage your portfolio have a legal duty to always act in your best interest. Not all firms operate under a fiduciary standard.

And while BGA takes advantage of technology to its fullest, at heart we’re a solid “brick and mortar” firm, with real offices, real desks and real financial advisors. We have both retail and institutional clients to whom we are accountable, in person, on a daily basis. Our investment committee designs and monitors all of our Remote Portfolio Management accounts, and they can call on years of “real life” experience when doing so.

Firms that exist only on the Internet and whose portfolio planners come from strictly academic or Silicon Valley backgrounds just can’t offer this level of experience.

What RPM isn’t

It is no substitute for BGA’s traditional advisory services. These services are intended to address all of your financial needs as well as such long-term life decisions as planning for your children’s education, exiting a business or passing on wealth to the next generation.

And while you many not need services like these at present, at some point in your life you almost certainly will. And we’ll be here to provide them.

In the meantime, there’s BGA Remote Portfolio Management to help get you moving in the right direction. To get started, please visit the Institutional Portfolios website and enter program key H99W. And if you’d like to learn more, please read on.

Who’s RPM for?

It’s for those investors who don’t yet have the financial resources to hire a traditional advisor. RPM is also for those who don’t have time, expertise or desire to make all of their own investment decisions and don’t feel the need to hire a traditional financial advisor. Which makes RPM ideal for any investor seeking institutional investments at lower costs.

What makes BGA RPM better than other automated investing programs?

For one thing, it’s offered by a firm made up of Registered Investment Advisors. Benedetti, Gucer & Associates has a legal fiduciary duty to always act in the best interest of the client. For another, each portfolio is created by an investment committee with decades of experience in the financial world. Firms whose portfolio planners come from strictly academic or Silicon Valley backgrounds can’t touch this “real-world” experience.

What’s the investment instrument used by RPM?

Low-cost Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) are the underlying investments in each RPM portfolio. While most portfolios will consist primarily of passively managed ETFs, we also use “smart beta” or actively managed ETFs if we feel that this affords a superior strategy. Our goal is to keep costs for our clients as low as possible while delivering optimum returns.

What are RPM fees like?

Our annual advisory fee is a flat .35%. Which is considerably lower than you’d pay for a traditional advisor. We don’t have trading fees, fees for withdrawals, or, for that matter, hidden fees of any kind. And you can close your account at any time without penalty.

What’s the minimum?

The minimum to enroll is $50,000. This can be a total of all accounts you have with us. And if the value of your account drops below this amount, there’s no penalty.

Is tax harvesting a feature?

Yes.

Will I be able to choose between passive allocation or an active management style?

In order to keep costs low, our portfolios utilize primarily passive ETFs but will use actively managed ETFs in asset classes where it is to the client’s advantage to do so.

Will RPM be available 24/7?

Yes, through the Charles Schwab & Co. website and mobile devices.

What’s the deal with Charles Schwab?

We’ve found that Schwab Wealth Advisory, Inc. has the technology and expertise to provide a superior platform for RPM. Moreover, we have chosen Charles Schwab & Co. as custodian for your account because of their custodial experience and their superior security measures designed to keep your personal and financial information safe online.
